Exhibition 100 years since the painting of Portmoneum and the publication of The Bloody Novel by Josef Váchal

Commemorating the events of 1924, when Josef Váchal completed the painting of the cabinets of the collections in Portman’s house and published The Bloody Novel, now his iconic work. All previous non-authorial editions of The Bloody Novel will also be on display. You’ll learn how the work on the Portmoneum painting progressed, as well as when Váchal printed The Bloody Novel.

At the Spa of the Spirit, we are planning a festive launch of a new limited edition of The Bloody Novel, which was created in cooperation with our museum, the publishing house Pasekou and the town of Litomyšl.

On Saturday, 11 May at 2 pm, we will officially present the artwork to the public, which is loosely based on Váchal’s painting Portmoneum, created 100 years ago. The authors of the painting are Vanda Kováříková and Lukáš Kalivoda, winners of an art competition held last autumn.

Roman Línek, Deputy Governor of the Pardubice Region, took over the patronage of the exhibition and accompanying events.
